23 Sep 1816 Grainger Co TN: Benjamin Dent, Jesse Maupin, John Dent and William Dent of the one part sold to James Murphy of the other, for $1000 current money of VA, 150A in Henry Co adjoining lands of Robert Donald and Bitten and running to the top of the mountain that divides Donalds Creek and Beaver Creek [their shares of the dwelling plantation of their father Shadrach Dent decd]; on same day, two Grainger Co Justices certified in writing that Benjamin Dent, Jesse Maupin, John Dent and William Dent appeared before them and acknowledged the above deed, and requested they certify the said acknowledgement to the Clerk of the Henry Co VA Court so that the deed could be recorded. 1 Nov 1816 Henry Co VA: deed with the certificate attached was exhibited in the County Clerk office and admitted to record «Henry Co Deed Bk 8:166»

[by 1824 (unknown place): John Dent probably died (John Dent was not mentioned in a 14 Jun 1824 Henry Co VA deed in which a 98A parcel of land [formerly belonging to Shadrach Dent] was conveyed by court appointed commissioners to John P. Pyrtle against the claims of Benjm. Dent, Wm. Dent, Jesse Maupin and his wife formerly Dent, and James Bradbury and his wife formerly Dent, and their heirs «HyD 10:55»; since this list of the heirs of Shadrach Dent did not include John Dent nor any of his heirs, he may have died by this time without issue]
