Overview
This is the research I have done in trying to identify Elizabeth Gregg's (William Gregg's mother) Ancestry
It also includes some unattached Conhope (William Gregg's wife) information.
So far, I have been able to piece together the following Gregg families in Herefordshire: Gregg Descendancy
Unfortunately, I don't know where my William Gregg fits in.
Questions to be answered about the William Gregg and Harriet Conhope family
1) When and where were William Gregg and Harriett Conhope married?
* Between 1820 and 1833
2) What happened to the John that was born in 1835? Is he the same one the is in Mary Ann's story about the gypsies? If not, when did the first die and when was the second born?
* He is not with the family in the 1841 census (neither are)
* According to Mary Ann's story, he was 2 and she was 5. That would make John born in about 1842 (after the census), but the chronologies in these histories are way off.
3) What is the birth date for Eliza in Baxterley, Warwickshire (abt 1842)?
4) What happened to Eliza after the departure of Mary Ann?
5) Is there any court records for William's birth in 1797? (Bastardly Examination, Poor records, ....)?
Questions to be answered about William's ancestors
1) Is the William Gregg and Mary Thomas married in Dilwyn (1779) the same ones married on Wellington (1783)?
* Check marriage in Wellington for text. I have a feeling they are seperate though!
2) William and Elizabeth both die early (1779 and 1788) leaving two kids: Elizabeth (1776) and William (1778). Did Mary take care of them? If not, what happened to them?
